Profile

Dr Wong is Senior Consultant Psychiatrist at Monash Medical Centre and Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry, Monash University, Australia. He is a medical graduate from University of Hong Kong and received his theological training at Bible College of Victoria, Australia. He has held various academic appointments and fellowships at University of Hong Kong, University of Toronto, Institute of Psychiatry of University of London, University of Melbourne and Mental Health Research Institute of Victoria, Australia. He is a member and fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in Britain and Australia and New Zealand respectively and a foundation fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine. He was elected a member of Society for Ricoeur Studies in 2008. He was an Academic Visitor to the Faculty of Philosophy of Oxford University in 2010.
 
Dr Wong’s major clinical and research interests are in psychoses, mood disorders, personality disorders, neuropsychiatry, neurophysiology, neuroimaging, psychopharmacology, psychopathology and psychiatric nosology. His first doctoral thesis is on the PET and MRI neuroimaging of violent offenders with schizophrenia. His second doctoral thesis explores how hermeneutics promotes the dialogue between psychiatry, neuroscience, philosophy and religion.
 
Dr Wong has been a fellow of ISCAST since 2004. He currently serves on the Board of Melbourne School of Theology Chinese Department.

Presentations

Dr Wong inaugurated and completed a Healthy Living Seminar Series between 2005 and 2008, sponsored by Crossway Asian Ministry, which was open to the Cantonese-speaking public in Melbourne. He speaks regularly on radios and public forums on mental illness, relationship, neuroscience, philosophy, culture and faith.
